Who does not want to retain the cleanliness of the clothes and make them look neat and clean? Do we know that the chemicals we use on our clothes are harmful?
Many people do not test detergents as most of them have harmful chemicals that are not good for health and skin.
From the release of microplastics, while washing to the millions of garments that end up in landfills, no one can deny the drastic environmental impact. But we hardly realize the harmful effect of chemicals found in detergents we use on the clothes we wear and store in our wardrobes. Generally, people use chemicals in cleaning processes, whether for washing or laundry.
Instead of biological detergents, it is best to use natural products like white vinegar, lemon, baking powder, and even table salt. But if you are tending to choose the detergents, experts suggest that you select the non-biological detergent. It is one of the best options for people who have sensitive skin as these do not contain enzymes. For some, non-bio detergents do not contain fragrances and colourings. Due to the lack of enzymes and non-bio trends, these are less impactful than biological detergents.
What constitutes Non-Biological Detergent?
While the enzymes increase the power of the stain removal property of liquid detergents, these are not effective on some fabrics like:
- Wool
- Cashmere
- Leather
- Silk
- Fur
- Feather
Biological detergents contain enzymes that affect the protein strains. If we wash these fabrics with an enzyme detergent, the clothes tend to lose their original look and veracity.
The non-biological detergents do not have the following:
- Sulphates, Chlorine, phosphates, and even sulfates.
- Do not contain Enzymes.
- Hand or machine washed
- Septic safe and Biodegradable
- Can be used in all temperature
Chemicals have become a trend in the fashion world, and hardly anyone has contemplated the harmful impact of chemical-laden clothes. When Greenpeace initiated its Detox My Fashion campaign in 2011, the environmental organization highlighted many hazardous chemical groups commonly used in the fashion industry. These are flame retardants that can make garments less flammable. According to ecological research agencies, chemicals disrupt hormones and weaken the immune system.
So it does matter the type of detergent that we use, as many detergents can spoil the texture of the clothes. We also have to be discrete with the detergent quantum we use. We generally think that as more detergents we use, it will make our clothes fresh and clean, but well, it is not quite so.
At the Nearest Laundry, we take special care of the fabrics and use the detergent accordingly. No doubt wearing clean clothing is our prodigy, but we should ensure our family's health. So clothes should not only be clean but healthy clean. In our services, whether it is laundry, dry cleaning, and even ironing, we adopt a sensible and careful approach to ascertaining that no cloth gets spoiled or its original shine is lost.
